KMRC was established as Public-Private-Partnership with majority ownership by the private sector at 75% and the Government at 25%. Its current shareholders include: the National Treasury and Planning, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Shelter Afrique, eight (8) commercial banks, eleven (11) Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Co-operatives (SACCOs) and one (1) Microfinance Bank.
