This year’s Kenya Affordable Housing Conference (KAHC) convened by the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC) will be hosted under the theme “Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Affordable Housing Ecosystem.” This theme aims at spurring impactful dialogue and action around Kenya’s housing sector and to foster dialogue on innovative, sustainable, and inclusive approaches to affordable housing.
—focuses on shared learning and coordinated action to accelerate Kenya’s affordable housing agenda. The key objective is to unlock constraints, leverage opportunities, and foster collaboration across the housing value chain. Specifically, the conference will seek to:
- Policy & Regulatory issues: Identify policy, regulatory, and market barriers hindering affordable housing delivery and propose concrete remedies or reforms.
- Market developments & Innovations: Highlight successful models and new ideas, which will include showcasing innovative building technologies, sustainable materials, digital finance solutions, and creative investment models (such as green finance or Shariah-compliant
loans) that can lower costs and expand access. - Housing ecosystem synergies: Provide a platform for dialogue and partnerships between the public sector, private developers, financiers, and academia. By sharing experiences and aligning goals, stakeholders can form collaborations to jointly drive the affordable housing agenda.
