Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC) was named the Pan-African Secondary Mortgage Institution of the Year at the 18th Africa Housing Awards.
The Awards Gala, which took place on Thursday, 25th July 2024 at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja-Nigeria, is a celebration of excellence in Africa’s flourishing housing sector. The initiative was a part of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), that took place between July 20th and 27th and themed Financing the Housing we Need.
“This accolade highlights KMRC’s dedication to providing innovative housing finance solutions, fostering homeownership and making it an attainable goal for all Kenyans and generally contributing to the country’s economic development,” said KMRC’s CEO, Mr. Johnstone Oltetia.
Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company was awarded in recognition of the pivotal role that the company is playing in revolutionizing housing affordability across Kenya through its Value Proposition, making the once elusive dream of home ownership a tangible reality for more citizens, especially those in the low to middle income segment and the SME sector.
Since commencement of its lending business, Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company has refinanced more than 3200 home loans, 46% of which being for women home owners. The Company provides competitive, low-interest, fixed, long-term finance to participating lenders, with a long repayment period (up to 25 years), making home loans attractive and affordable. Through its refinancing since commencement, KMRC has positively impacted more than 10,000 families.
Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) is Africa’s biggest housing and construction expo and features Products' Presentation, Exhibition of Building Technology, modern construction equipment, mortgage services and interactive forums with prominent stakeholders in the built environment.
